The bed in the
Amari Vang Viang Hotel in
Vang Vieng, Laos is good,
but we slept restlessly, we have to get used to another bed and another surroundings.
Breakfast is not included in the room price and that is why we look for breakfast outside.
It is not easy to find something that is not full of tourists (we are ourselves but we see
that differently).
But we find a restaurant, the coffee is reasonable, the sandwich for Tom is lavish and
tastes good and the noodle soup for Pia also tastes good.
After breakfast, we book seats on the bus to Vientiane, our next and last stop in this Laos journey.
Pia mainly wanted to go to Vang Vieng because of a red bridge, there appears to be a cave at
that bridge.
We think it is too far to walk, so we rent two bicycles, which turn out to be of reasonable
quality.
We cycle in the direction of the bridge, and there we seem to have to pay, 10,000 Lak per
person (1 Euro).
We also see a sign there that points to a place where you can take boat trips, we were
planning that too.
The bridge turns out not to be red but orange, just put in the red lead.
You have a nice view over the river.
We cross the bridge and go to the cave, about a ten minute walk.
At the cave is a restaurant and a building with toilets.
You can also swim there.
The entrance to the cave is 15000 Lak for foreigners, Pia is also a foreigner here.
We climb quite a steep and high staircase to get to the entrance of the cave.
The cave itself is not very special, but it is easily accessible, there is lighting and
there is a concrete walkway, perhaps a kilometer long.
The stairs down is a challenge especially for Tom because here his fear of heights is
playing a role; but everything is going well.
We have a drink in the restaurant and then cycle back.
When we arrive at the boat trips it appears that it is very hot, the boats are open and
we have sit in the bright sun for at least an hour.
We don't like that and that's why we cycle back to the hotel with the idea of having a look
again later in the afternoon.
We eat some, moderate, food in a restaurant opposite the hotel and then we go to the room.
There we fall asleep and when we wake up it is already 5:30 pm, too late for a boat trip.
We walk through Vang Vieng and then have dinner at Phubarn Café along the river, where we
also were yesterday.
The food tastes good to us.

We tell what we have done and experienced during a trip and we also tell what we think about it; no more and no less.
This is not a travel guide, nor is it advice to visit a place or not.
There are other sites for that.
Our opinion about places where we have eaten, drunk or slept is not intended as a (positive or negative) assessment,
there are other sites for that.
It is our view of the situation at a certain moment and that view is influenced by our mood,
the weather and many other factors.
